Dekalb Farm is a collaborative project that unites members of the Urban Agricultural community to provide fresh produce and public workshops to market goers. Additionally, it is home to Food 360, a farm-to-table job-training program run by Family Cook Productions and housed in a brand-new incubator kitchen designed by Marketshare. The kitchen will eventually become a functional space for local makers, entrepreneurs and culinary professionals to prepare their products for sale at the market. Just another way Dekalb Market is bridging makers, artists, farmers, chefs and the community!

Weekly produce pick-ups will be organized by Plovgh and will have a weekly theme correlating with the crops available that week. There will also be monthly programming centered around farming.

There is also room for outdoor table vendors for special events. It is a magical outdoor space and will be fully stocked as the go-to summer beer garden destination.

Jen Lyon, of MeanRed Productions fame, and I have partnered up and will be spending the next couple months preparing for a great year at Dekalb Market and would love for you to join us in one form or another! Some things we have planned:

– Beer & Wine Garden
– Programming & Events
– Ticketed evenings for music and nightlife entertainment including a DEKALB NIGHT MARKET!
– Happy hour specials
– Weekly CSAs and farm based events
– Movie Screenings (Bike Ins!)
– Classes & workshops for retailers

– Updated roster of vendors featuring the best in their field: food, crafts, art, music, clothing, accessories

If you’re looking for a space to host your performance, food competition, or product please let me know. Anything goes, if you want to showcase your best wood planer, or the latest gizmo. If you’re a vendor and would like either a permanent container space or participate in vendor specific events please let me know. If you know folks who’d love to take this opportunity to use Dekalb Market as a venue for any fun activity, please let me know!

Any questions? Let me know. 🙂

Brooklyn Night Bazaar at Dekalb Market: October 9th

I had the opportunity to co-produce this event and I’m super excited to announce the inaugural Brooklyn Night Bazaar to be held at Dekalb Market for a single night – Sunday October 9, from 5PM to 12 Midnight. The inspiration for the event comes from the night markets across Asia. On this night we will be showcasing local artists, vendors and musicians from Brooklyn and beyond. Here’s what you can expect to experience:

·      Live music with YACHT, Monogold, Trouble Andrew, and DJ Sets
·      More than 50 independent merchant and food vendors
·      Beer & wine garden featuring local breweries courtesy Sixpoint, Great Brewers and Brooklyn Winery
·      Light and sculpture installation by Jason Krugman
·      Games like Petanque and more

When: Sunday October 9th from 5:00 PM until Midnight

Where: Dekalb Market @ 138 Willoughby Street, Brooklyn – An outdoor market with retrofitted cargo containers in the heart of Brooklyn between Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Clinton Hill. The Bazaar is a stone’s throw from the B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, G, and F trains, numerous bus routes and bike lanes. Transportation Alternatives will be providing free valet bike parking.

Several months ago we put together a successful Kickstarter campaign and despite some initial hiccups, we are very excited to be launching the concept at Dekalb Market for a single night. The event will be free to the public, except for the performance area which will be ticketed.  The Bazaar is expected to attract thousands from the surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods and throughout New York who enjoy vibrant community gathering spaces with live music, warm ambiance and great times. Come out and enjoy!
